William Ruto Wins Kenya’s Presidential Election

William Ruto has won Kenya’s presidential election that was held on August 9, 2022. That was reported by various East African media on August 15, 2022.
According to the reports, William Ruto who is the vice president in the outgoing government there, defeated his main rival ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga with a tiny margin of 1.64% of the vote. More precisely, William Ruto won 50.49% of the vote while Raila Odinga took 48.85%.
At the same time, there are reports that there are disagreements as regards the presidential election result, among the members of the country’s independent electoral body alias IEBC. As such, only 3 members of the body are said to have endorsed the result while the remaining 4 have refused to do so. Interestingly, however, it was the chairman of the electoral body that declared William Ruto president elect.
William Ruto (55) is said to come from humble beginnings, having been a petty trader as a teenager and according to him with a father who has not even been a headman of a village.
