USA Warns Sweden Over Alleged Mistreatment Of Arrested Rapper A$AP Rocky

On July 3, 2019 rapper A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Mayer, was arrested in Stockholm, Sweden, for alleged assault. Since then he has been languishing in prison. Now, the US State Department has warned Sweden about the arrest of the African American rapper, reported numerous media on July 16, 2019.

The strong warning reportedly follows circulating reports that A$AP Rocky is being mistreated inside the Nordic country's prison he is held. In its warning statement, the State Department observed it expects all governments, Sweden included, to treat American citizens fairly and with respect. The department also indicated it expects the rapper to be released as soon as possible.

Rapper A$AP Rocky was in Sweden for a performance at Stockholm's Smash Festival. The latter was held on July 2 - 3, 2019. His arrest has infuriated many music artists in the world, including Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, T.I, and Post Malone, among others. Some artists have even vowed never to perform in Sweden after the controversial arrest of the popular Harlem born rapper.
