According to the reports, USA that is said to have more than 1000 troops in Niger, will begin withdrawing its troops from the country in the coming months.
The impeding withdrawal of troops from Niger by USA, follows a decision by the country's ruling military junta just after it took power, that declared presence of US troops in the country illegal and ordered withdrawal of the troops. Initially, USA resisted the order saying it didn't recognize the new military government there.
Even earlier, French troops that were stationed in Niger left the country after the ruling military junta kicked them out.
As US troops prepare to leave Niger, some Russian troops entailing military specialists are said to have arrived in the country. They reportedly arrived on April 10, 2024.
