Türkiye Applies For BRICS Membership

Türkiye on September 3, 2024, submitted its membership application to join the BRICS economic bloc, reported some media on September 4, 2024.

Historically, BRICS was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, and known then as BRIC. It became BRICS per se in 2010 after South Africa joined the bloc. In January 2024, BRICS expanded dramatically by admitting 4 new members, namely, Ethiopia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, and Iran.
