When a female Tanzanian member of parliament (MP), namely Condester Sichwale, entered the country’s parliament in the capital Dodoma on June 1, 2021, for a parliamentary session, in a trendy sexy outfit consisting of slim-fit black pants with matching footwear and yellow blouse, a male MP, namely Hussein Amar, was observing her outfit with great curiosity, according to some media on June 2, 2021. The male MP is said to have then immediately raised the alarm, complaining bitterly to the speaker of the parliament about his colleague’s outfit without, however, going into details, only using the female MP’s yellow blouse to identify her, and telling the speaker and we quote partly as thus:
“…………. Look at the trousers she has worn, Mr Speaker”.
The speaker reportedly gave a quick look at the embattled pants, presumably understood, and agreed with the concealed concerns the male MP had about them, and threw out MP Condester Sichwale from the parliament, telling her and we partly quote again:
“Go dress up well, and then join us back later”.
Tanzania is said to have gender biased parliamentary rules that stipulate how female MPs should dress when attending parliamentary sessions, that female MPs seem to have rather tolerated. Notwithstanding, however, expulsion of MP Condester Sichwale from the parliament over her beloved skinny pants has been castigated by some female MPs there, who say there was nothing wrong with the way she chose to dress on that day. _________________________ © 2015 - 2021 Africauptodate.
