Tanzania's Magufuli Recommends Amnesty To Financial Crime Suspects

President John Magufuli of Tanzania on September 22, 2019 recommended amnesty to people held in custody on financial crime charges if the the suspects admit wrong doing and are willing to pay back embezzled funds. That was reported by some media on September 23, 2019.

Reportedly emphasizing particularly suspects of tax evasion and money laundering, the president seems to have made the recommendation to the country's Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
