Tanzania's Magufuli Fires Spy Boss

President John Magufuli of Tanzania on September 12, 2019 fired the director general of the country's intelligence and security body called Tanzania Intelligence and Security Service (TISS). That was reported by some media on September 13, 2019.
The spy boss Modestus Kipilimba was immediately replaced by a former police commissioner and chief of the country's anti-corruption agency called Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) Diwani Athmani Msuya.
Why the president, popularly known locally as The Bulldozer, fired Mr Kipilimba is unknown.
