Tanzania's Annual Gold Export Earnings Swell By 42%
Tanzania's annual gold export earinngs for the period ending november 2019 show an increase of staggering 42%, reported some media on January 6, 2019.
According to the reports, the country's gold export earnings increased from $1.51 billion as of November 2018 to $2.14 billion as of november 2019.
Not long ago, the government of Tanzania made some landmark policy reforms to its mining sector, aimed at ensuring the country benefits more from extraction of its vast mineral resources. The reforms included introduction of export ban on mineral concentrates and establishment of local mineral ore refineries. The rather dramatic increase in gold export earnings could, indeed, be an outcome of the government's mining policy reforms!
