Sweden's Queen Of Trash Bella Nilsson Appears In Court For Illegal Waste Dumping

Sweden's self-proclaimed Queen of Trash Bella Nilsson on September 3, 2024, appeared in a magistrate court in Sollentuna, Stockholm, together with 10 other defendants to face trial in the country's greatest environmental crime case of all time.

According to Swedish TV SVT and some other media reports, Bella Nilsson who is the former renowned CEO of a now embattled previously highly acclaimed waste disposal firm called Think Pink, and 10 of the firm's other top officials, are facing charges pertaining to alleged dumping of unprocessed waste by their firm.

More precisely, Think Pink is reportedly been accused of illegal dumping of massive amount of unprocessed waste, estimated at 200 000 tonnes, on 21 sites spread across various municipalities in the central part of Sweden including Stockholm Region, between 2015 - 2020.

The waste disposal firm is said to have had incredible goodwill, with high profile clients within the public and private sectors including municipalities, as well private individuals. They removed all sorts of waste including: unwanted building materials from let's say demolitions, plastics, tyres, wood, and metals, among others. Removed waste some which is said to have contained substances that can harm the environment was then simply disposed on the alleged sites without any processing or treatment.

The popular Queen of Trash and the other defendants are said to have so far maintained that they are innocent.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, because the illegal dumping by Think Pink went on for a rather long period before it was stopped, that may indicate some possible serious development control flaws or other issues in the municipalities where the dumping took place.

Fascinating case concerning the opposing variables of business and environmental protection in capitalist societies!
