South Africa's Johann Rupert has discrowned Nigeria's Aliko Dangote as richest person in Africa, according to Bloomberg Billionaire Index most recent data.

According to the data, as of July 12, 2024, Johann Rupert is Africa's richest person with a net worth of $14.3 billion, displacing his arch rival Aliko Dangote that has a net worth of $13.4 billion to the second place. The former's massive wealth is said to accrue from luxury good business, while that of the latter emanates from cement production, oil refinery, and sugar production, among others.
