South Africa Launches Locally Manufactured Hybrid Electric Vehicle

South Africa on October 26, 2021, launched its first locally manufactured hybrid electric vehicle. That was reported by some South African media.
The launched vehicle, a Toyota called Corolla Cross, has combined internal combustion engine and electric motor. It was generated at Toyota’s new manufacturing plant in Durban’s industrial area of Prospecton, in KwaZulu Natal. The plant is said to have production capacity of 111 hybrid electric vehicles per day.
4000 Toyota Corolla Cross vehicles are expected to be produced at the plant by 2025, for export to about 40 countries.
