Sierra Leone Abolishes The Death Penalty

Sierra Leone on October 8, 2021, formerly abolished the death penalty. The formal abolition of the death penalty follows signing by the country’s President Julius Maada Bio of a bill abolishing the death penalty, namely Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, that was unanimously passed by the parliament there on July 23, 2021.


Sierra Leone joins 22 other African countries that have got rid of the barbaric punishment.
