A Rwandese YouTuber Yvonne Idamange (42) who was arrested recently for criticizing the country’s President Paul Kagame and his regime for, among others, dictatorship, has been jailed for 15 years. That was reported by some East African media on October 1, 2021.
According to the reports, Ms Idamange was slapped with hefty jail term by a court in the capital Kigali on September 30, 2021, after she was convicted of 6 charges connected with her arrest, that included inciting violence, spreading rumors, and assault.
Criticizing President Kagame is said to be quite a risky business in Rwanda, that is often followed by harsh response from the authorities there.
