Prominent DRC Politician Vital Kamerhe On Trial For Embezzling $51 Million

One of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)'s top politicians Vital Kamerhe was on May 11, 2020 put on trial for embezzling public funds amounting $51 million. That was reported by various media. The alleged embezzled funds were for the country's infrastructure projects.

Mr Kamerhe was President Felix Tshisekedi's chief of staff. He has been languishing in incarceration awaiting trial since April 8, 2020.
