Powerful Earthquake Strikes Haiti Killing At Least 724

A powerful earthquake struck Haiti in the morning of August 14, 2021 (local time), killing at least 724 people, reported some media.
The earthquake said to have been of 7.2 magnitude, had its epicentre near the city of Petit Trou de Nippes that is located about 150km west of the capital Port-au-Prince.
In 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti, with epicentre near the capital, killed over 300 000 people and caused an estimated $7.8 billion built environment damage, according to the country’s government data.
