Polio Only Endemic In Asia After Nigeria Eradicates The Disease

Polio has been eradicated in Nigeria, announced World Health Organization (WHO) and reported by some media on August 25, 2020.

Hitherto the WHO announcement, Nigeria was the only country in Africa where polio was endemic. Eradication of the disease there therefore means Africa is now a polio free continent, leaving Asia as the only continent where polio is still prevalent. In Asia, polio is endemic in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
