Nigeria's Buhari Departs For South Africa
President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria on October 2, 2019 departed for South Africa to begin a three day state visit, reported some African media.
President Buhari's visit comes after recent wide spread xenophobic attacks in South Africa, that Nigeria alleged targeted its citizens and their businesses. Notwithstanding, however, the visit is not expected to dwell upon only the xenophobic issue, but also and probably most importantly, how the two countries can move forward in strengthening economic cooperation.
Nigeria and South Africa are Africa's largest economies.
