Mass Evacuation In St. Vincent After Powerful Volcano Eruption

Mass evacuation is ongoing in the Caribbean island of St. Vincent following powerful eruption of the island’s La Soufrière volcano. That was reported by some media on April 10, 2021.
According to the reports, La Soufrière volcano started showing indications of erupting on April 8, 2021. On April 9, 2021, the volcano erupted explosively necessitating evacuation of 16 000 people or about 10% of the island’s population, living within the volcano’s danger zone. Evacuees are said to have been taken to other parts of the island.
Previous powerful eruption of La Soufrière volcano occurred in 1979.
