Mahsa Amini alias Jina Mahsa Amini has been awarded posthumously, Sakharov Prize 2023, reported some media on October 19, 2023. Sakharov Prize is a prestigous human rights award by the European Union.
Mahsa Amini was murdered on September 16, 2022, by her own country's notoriously brutal so called morality police, for what the authorities there said, having a head covering called hijab put on inappropriately, or what they summarized as improper clothing. She was only 22 years old at the the time of the murder.
The barbaric murder of Mahsa Amini triggered massive protests in Iran and elsewhere in the world, and has reportedly become a game-changer in the struggle by women in Iran for reclaiming their individual freedom including freedom of dress.
Women's individual freedom is said to be grossly violated by the governmen of Iran on daily basis. For instance, after the murder of Mahsa Amini, some young girls who made a daring public display of their great interest in global music by dancing extraordinarily the popular duet Calm Down by Selena Gomez and Rema, in a square in Tehran, had to go hiding after the police launched a search for them.
The stunningly beautiful Mahsa Amini is said to have loved trendy fashion and beauty accessories, just like many other young women in the world in the 21st century.
In most countries in the world, women who like to look attractive are loved and cherished, in Iran the authorities hate, harass, jail, and even kill them.
