Kirsty Coventry Elected IOC President

Kirsty Coventry (41) was on March 20, 2025, elected president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Currently Zimbabwe's minister of youth, sports, arts, and recreation, Kirsty Coventry becomes the first woman and the first African to be elected IOC president. Reportedly, she will be officially inaugurated as the 10th president of the prestigious global sports organization on June 23, 2025.
Kirsty Coventry is a highly respected sportsperson worldwide, having won a total of 7 Olympic medals in swimming.

She won the medals at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

The medals are as follows.

4 silver medals
1 bronze medal
