Ex-US President Jimmy Carter is dead. He died in his hometown of Plains in Georgia, USA, on December 29, 2024. He was 100.
Jimmy Carter was the 39th US President. He served one presidential term from 1977 - 1981. As president, he was a renowned advocate of human rights, democracy, and peace worldwide. For instance, he facilitated the landmark peace deal between Israel and Egypt, and supported the struggle against then pathetic apartheid system in South Africa. Even recently, he is said to have observed that had he won a second term in office, he would have abolished the appalling and unjustifiable so called West's sanctions on Cuba that are causing unnecessary suffering to the people there, hence normalized diplomatic relations with the Caribbean country.
As an ex-president, Jimmy Carter continued his crusade for human rights, democracy, and peace throughout the world through his non-profit organization, Carter Center, in Atlanta, GA. Also, he consolidated his contribution to helping others especially in the USA, through active philanthropy. He particularly played a prominent role in Habitat For Humanity, a housing charitable organization that strives to providing affordable housing. Ex-President Jimmy Carter has been doing these sort of good things that definitely make the world a better place until his last moment.
