Ivory Coast Becomes Africa's Football Champion

Ivory Coast has won Africa Cup of Nations 2024 alias AFCON 2024, hence becoming Africa's football champion. The ECOWAS nation took the continental footbal trophy after defeating Nigeria 2 - 1, in a final match that took place at the Felix Houphouët Boigny Stadium in Abijan, on February 11, 2024.

AFCON 2024 was hosted by Ivory Coast in six new and refurbished stadiums in various cities, from January 13 - February 11, 2024.
24 countries qualified for the FIFA continental football league, namely: Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Morocco, Angola, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Egypt, Mali, Mauritania, Namibia, Algeria, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, and Tunisia.
