Hakainde Hichilema Wins Zambia’s Presidential Election

Zambia’s main opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema has won the country’s presidential election held on August 12, 2021. That was announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia in the early hours of August 16, 2021.
According to the electoral commission announcement, Hakainde Hichilema who is the leader of United Party for National Development party won 2 810 777 votes out of 7 million registered voters, at estimated turnout of 70%. The incumbent President Edgar Lungu got 1 814 201 votes.
