Goma City Under Threat As Lava From Nyiragongo Volcano Approaches Fast

Lava from Nyiragongo Volcano in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)’s Nyiragongo Volcano that erupted on the evening of May 22, 2021, is now flowing directly towards Goma City. That was reported by some media.


The superhot lava is said to be approaching Goma City fast, having already touched Goma International Airport on the outskirts of the city.


In response to the threat posed by the lava to Goma City, DRC government reportedly said it was planning a major evacuation of the city’s 670 000 inhabitants.
