Ex-President Sam Nujoma Of Namibia Is Dead

Ex-President Sam Nujoma of Namibia is dead. He died in the capital Windhoek, on February 8, 2025. He was 95.
Ex-President Nujoma was the first president of independent Namibia. He served 3 consecutive presidential terms from 1990 to 2005.
He was one of the founding members of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) in 1960, that led Namibia's armed struggle for independence from the then apartheid South Africa. As such, he is considered in some quarters as one of Africa's greatest heroes.
