Ethiopia's Abiy Ahmed Awarded Nobel Peace Prize
The prime minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed has been awarded the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize, announced Norwegian Nobel Committee on October 11, 2019.
The award is said to be in recognition of, among others, Mr Ahmed's contribution to recent milestones made in resolving the issue of border conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
Mr Abiy Ahmed who hails from Oromia region, has been a prime minister since 2018. At 43, he is Africa's youngest head of state.
