On October 21, 2021, Eswatini outlawed protests as pro-democracy protests continue in the Kingdom. That was reported by some African media on October 22, 2021.
According to the reports, the ban on protests is seen as an attempt by the ruling monarchy to curb the ongoing deadly pro-democracy protests that have reportedly claimed 30 dead since June this year. On October 21, 2021, a protester was gunned down by security forces as they continued to use live ammunition during their crackdown on protesters.
Even earlier this week, the country’s embattled King Mswati III closed all schools in the country after students joined the pro-democracy protests.
