Denzel Washington Braces For Becoming A Vicar In The Pentecostal Church
Denzel Washington (69) is bracing for becoming a vicar alias pastor or reverend in the Pentecostal church. That was reported by some US media on December 23, 2024.
According to the reports, the Academy Award winning movie star paved the way for membership of the clergy in the Pentecostal church after he was baptised at the Kelly Temple Church of God in Christ, a Pentecostal church in Harlem, New York City, on December 21, 2024. Following the baptism, he received a Baptism certificate, and a Minister's license. The latter permits him to be ordained in the future. Once ordained he will become officially a vicar and can then lead spiritual church services.
Whether the Out Of Time (2003) actor intends to call it quits with movie acting when he eventually becomes a vicar and focus solely on preaching the word of God, or alternatively carry out both roles simultaneously, is currently unknown.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, getting baptized and accepting the Minister's license were definitely huge life-changing decisions by Denzel Washington. They probably imply following the footsteps of his father, Denzel Hayes Washington Sr., who was a renowned Pentecostal church vicar with reportedly 2 churches.
Also, the decisions may have come as a surprise to many, because not long ago, last month, he is said to have observed in one US magazine, that it wasn't fashionable to be religious in Hollywood, because to be that wasn't sexy. But then, the utterance is difficult to interpret because he didn't disclose his stance on this perception of religion in Hollywood.
