Death Toll From Unrest In South Africa Rises To 72 Despite Deployment Of Military Troops

Africa | South Africa July 13, 2021

Death toll from ongoing unrest in South Africa after jailing of Ex-President Jacob Zuma, has risen sharply from 6 deaths a day ago to at least 72 deaths as of July 13, 2021. That was reported by some South African media.

The increasing number of casualties is occurring despite deployment on July 12, 2021, by the government there, of military troops to most affected areas to help police crush the bloody unrest. Most of the dead are said to be from KwaZulu-Natal Province and particularly the provincial capital Pietermaritzburg where riots and looting of commercial outlets are continuing amid presence of military troops. _____________________________ © 2015 - 2021 Africauptodate.
