Countrywide Flash Floods In Botswana Kill 7
Countrywide flash floods in Botswana have left at least 7 dead and over 1700 displaced. The dead include 3 children. That was reported by some African media on February 22, 2025. The deadly rapid floods followed days of torrential rains in the often arid Southern African country, the reports say.
One of the parts of the country that have been most affected by the floods is said to be the capital Gaborone where many urban quarters are under water, allegedly due to mainly poor storm water drainage system. That has resulted in closure of roads and schools, as well as adjournment of the parliament.

Also, the city's dam on Notwane River, called Gaborone Dam, has been overwhelmed by the floods and overflowed, carrying away vehicles and damaging landed properties in its vicinity.
