Big Fight Inside DRC’s Parliament

A big fight ensued inside Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)’s parliament in Kinshasa on December 8, 2020, between two groups of legislators belonging to the ruling coalition. That was reported by various media on December 9, 2020.


The ruling coalition consists of President Felix Tshisekedi’s political party Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) and his predecessor Ex-President Joseph Kabila’s party Common Front for Congo (FCC). The latter has a majority in the parliament.


According to the reports, the legislators fought fiercely in two floors of the parliament building, hauling chairs and even tables to each other. Police are said to have entered the building later, to restore order!


A crisis within the ruling coalition, that has been ongoing for sometime now, is said to have sparked the fight.
