2024 Summer Olympics alias Paris 2024 is being held in Paris and some other places in France, and scheduled for July 24 - August 11, 2024. Just some hours hitherto the official opening ceremony, a massive sabotage attack was unleashed in a coordinated manner on the country's high speed railway system. The attack seriously disrupted high speed train services, reportedly leaving over 800 000 passengers stranded, some of which may have been heading to Paris for the Olympics' opening ceremony. Also affected were high speed trains to Paris from Britain, as well as from Belgium and beyond in that direction.

Nevertheless, Paris 2024's opening ceremony took place in style, with participating athletes representing 206 countries arriving in boats cruising along the city's allegedly cleaned up Seine River, for an opening parade outside a designated Olympics stadium.
