Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne has vowed to capture a fraudulent Nigerian couple on the run and suspected to have arrived in the Caribbean tropical paradise over the weekend ending October 17, 2021. That was reported by some Caribbean media on October 20, 2021. The couple, namely Bamise and Elizabeth Ajetunmobi and their children are said to hold Antigua and Barbuda citizenship obtained under the country’s Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP).

According to the reports, PM Gaston Bowne on October 19, 2021, told Antigua and Barbuda’s parliament that the fraudulent Nigerian couple will be captured if they have set foot in the country, even if they hold Antigua and Barbuda passports under the CIP. He emphasized that the CIP is not for crooks.

Bamise and Elizabeth Ajetunmobi are said to have swindled some Nigerian investors about $53 million (equivalent to NGN 22 billion) through their firm Imagine Global Solution Ltd, a micro finance service firm that promises attractive 10% returns to investors. After the firm collapsed recently, the couple fled Nigeria with their children, landing first in London where Imagine Global Solution Ltd has a branch, before allegedly proceeding to Antigua and Barbuda. The couple reportedly fled Nigeria without paying a penny to their firm’s investors.

Nigerian fraudsters are notorious. They target not only locals but anyone anywhere in the world!
