Anti-Apartheid Hero And Ex-President Zuma Begins Serving Jail Sentence

Anti-apartheid hero and South Africa’s Ex-President Jacob Zuma has began serving a 15-month-jail sentence he was handed by the country’s Constitutional Court on June 29, 2021, for contempt of court. That was reported by some South African media on July 8, 2021.

According to the reports, Ex-President Jacob Zuma handed himself into Estcourt Correctional Center, a refurbished jail located in Escourt historic town in KwaZulu-Natal Province, on July 7, 2021, to begin serving the sentence.

Ex-President Jacob Zuma was staunch and fearless fighter against the former horrific apartheid regime in South Africa. For that he spent a decade in the then notorious prison in Robben Island. There is no doubt, whatsoever, he contributed immensely to the eventual defeat of the regime hence its replacement with a majority native African rule in 1994.
