7 Killed In Anti-Military Coup Protests In Sudan

Africa | Sudan October 25, 2021

At least 7 people have been killed in Sudan, in deadly protests against a military coup that took place there in the morning of October 25, 2021. That was reported by some media.

The military is said to have declared a state of emergency and dissolved a civilian/military transition government that has been ruling the country for about two years now. The civilian Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and some top government officials have reportedly been arrested.

The transition government was expected to pave the way for a democratic election in the country after more than three decades of dictatorial rule under the disgraced Omar Hassan al-Bashir who is due to be handed over to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity.
