Sudan Expelled From AU Over Massacre Of Protesters By Security Forces
Sudan has been expelled, albeit temporarily, from the African Union (AU), over the massacre of over 120 peaceful protesters by the country's security forces since June 3, 2019. That was announced by the continental bloc on June 6, 2019.
According to the announcement, the expulsion came into effect immediately and will remain in place until Sudan's military through its Transitional Military Council relinquishes power to a civilian-led ruling authority.
The swift and decisive action by the AU against the brutal new military rulers in Sudan has been applauded in various quarters.
