Kenya has signed a deal for an affordable housing project entailing construction of about 100 000 new homes for the country's poor, reported some Kenyan media on May 30, 2019.
The deal signed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nairobi recently, is between Kenya's Department for Housing and United Nations Office for Projects Services (UNOPS) and Sustainable Housing Solutions (SHS).
The housing project is within the framework of Kenya's Affordable Housing Programme (AHP). Tha latter is geared towards providing affordable, clean, safe and sustainable housing in the country. The project will be executed on basis of the public-private partnership (PPP) model, with the government playing the role of a facilitator through making buildable land available and providing off-site infrastructure, i.e. linking systems of main roads, water supply, electricity supply, sewerage, etc., to the site. _______________________ © 2015 - 2019 Africauptodate.
