Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Dies At 81

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela is dead. She died on April 2, 2018 after a long illness, aged 81. Former wife of South Africa's first African president Nelson Mandela, Winnie Mandela was a political titan herself.

She was one of the most fearless and bravest freedom fighters during the struggle against the brutal apartheid regime in South Africa. Dubbed "Mother of the Nation", Winnie Mandela continued to fight for increased inclusiveness, hence uplifting of quality of life of ordinary South Africans, after abolition of apartheid.
