Puerto Rico Could Be USA's 51st State

97% of the people of Puerto Rico have voted in favor of becoming the 51st state of the USA, in a non-binding referendum held on June 11, 2017. The referendum was boycotted by the opposition and had a turnout of only 23%. Notwithstanding, however, the wish of the people of Puerto Rico expressed by the outcome of the referendum, has to be approved by the US Congress for the mainly Spanish speaking US oldest colony to become USA's 51st state. _______________________________ © 2015 - 2017 Africauptodate.
