100 Villagers Massacred In Niger

Two attacks in Niger on January 2, 2021 left at least 100 people dead, reported some media on January 3, 2021. According to the reports, the deadly attacks took place in two villages in Tillaberi Region in the western part of the country. 70 people are said to have been killed in one village and 30 more in another village. Reportedly, the heavily armed assailants entered the villages on motorcycles and are suspected to be Islamist militants. Unconfirmed reports suggest the attacks could have been retaliation for an earlier killing of some suspected Islamist militants by some villagers.
